This is a significant day as we have now turned north and every kilometre will bring us closer to home!
Our campsite was a few kilometres north of the actual headland, so we headed south through little lanes to Santa Maria di Leuca.

Arriving in the modern town of Gallipoli was horrible. I think that it can claim to be the home of the worst drivers in Italy - and the most numerous!
However the old centre on a peninsula facing west into the Ionian Sea is a gem. We stopped to sample the local speciality of iced coffee with almond milk - superb!
We're now at a small campsite just north of Gallipoli where it is at last warm enough to enjoy sitting outside and cooking our meal.
Santa Maria di Leuca to Gallipoli - 68km, 200m climb.
