At last - a sunny day! The forecast was good and we dragged ourselves away from our sumptuous breakfast and headed out of Oria through the Hebrew Gate.
In spite of the looming black clouds there was no rain and the route took us through pretty, quiet lanes until we met the Acquedotto Pugliese, a new cycle route developed along a former aqueduct. Although not paved, this was good to cycle on. It was surprisingly undulating for a watercourse. As we progressed we saw more and more trulli. A very steep climb took us into the interesting hill town of Locorotondo, and another few kilometres to the rather drab campsite of Bosco Selva.
We put up the tent and headed into town - what an amazing sight!
Oria to Alberobello - 62 kilometres, 750m climb.
