Now it's June and we have summer, 30 degrees and not a cloud in the sky. We're not used to this!
We cycled the few kilometers into central Ravenna and set about visiting the famous mosaics. The city was crowded with tour parties - rather a change from the bleak and deserted, rain-washed seaside resorts we've been cycling through until now.
We enjoyed exploring, but in truth were a little disappointed with many of the mosaics. Some were stunning, but we both felt that in general the ones of a similar period at Aquileia, between Venice and Trieste, which we visited a few years ago were more refined than many of these.
Maybe the heat and the crowds didn't help!
On the road again tomorrow aiming for Ferrara - let's hope it isn't quite as hot.
Into and around Ravenna - 14km
