A long day and our last in Italy. We've been cycling here for nearly four weeks and have ridden the whole length of the country from south to north with a few detours. 1720km in all.

Today's route took us across the plain to the east of Milan. To begin with it was an excellent route following the Villoresi Canal, though there were a few rough sections.
The following 20km or so were on a completely safe and segregated bike path which was alongside a motorway - boring, noisy and smelly, not a highlight - no pictures, I'll leave it to the imagination.
We then had a bit of a climb followed by the descent to Como. Also not very pleasant as too much traffic was eventually funnelled through a narrow valley. However we energed from this fume-filled hell hole to the beauty of the lake and its villas.

We cycled the few kilometres to the Swiss border and joined Swiss Route 3 until the first campsite which is nicely situated by Lake Lugano.
