It was a terrible night - there was a huge thunderstorm which lasted for about six hours. By about 7am though the rain had eased and we were able to start cycling reasonably early. We followed the beautiful lakeside route the few kilometres to Lucerne, marvelling at the gorgeous villas lining it.
We passed through the middle of lovely Lucerne without stopping for long as we have both visited it several times before.

| Sempach
There were lots of pretty towns and we sat in the middle of Sempach to eat our picnic lunch.

After a very easy day's cycling the last few kilometres were very punishing - about 15%. In the end it defeated us both and we took to our feet.
However it was well worth the struggle as it is completely quiet and peaceful. We are the only campers tonight and have just enjoyed our evening meal looking over the beautiful view.
This should be our last campsite in Switzerland as we are only 50km from Basel and will cross into France tomorrow.
